TO: All Lode Runner Fans FROM: Joel DeSelm RE: New Levels Chances are, if you've downloaded this file you already have the other sets of levels in the famous and outrageous "OVERLODE" series of Loderunner levels. If you haven't gotten the other three sets, by all means, get them! This file is OVERLODE number 4 and contains 25 brand new, never-before-seen, up-way-past-midnight-trying-to-conquer-them levels. These babies have taken me hours of work and effort. However, for die hard "Loderunner" fans like us, no problem. As with the previous sets of levels, these puzzles range from medium to difficult in terms of skill level. (In my opinion, I personally think some of these levels are actually pretty easy but I'm the one who made them and have a distinct advantage in terms of how to solve them.) As is the trademark of the OVERLODE series, these things will drive you nuts. I've discovered glitches and goofy things that probably even Sierra isn't aware of in this game. As before, I'm confident that you will learn some things about the characteristics of this game that you never knew before. All of these levels are "conquerable" and carefully thought out. Some of them are down right nasty! There are a number of things I purposely did NOT do in these levels. I did not create any "night" missions in that I feel they are unfair and don't add that much to the game. (I mean ANYBODY can create a hard level by turning the lights out. Big deal. But try to create an ingenius level with everyone working in broad daylight! That's the tough part.) I also tried very hard not to put alot of sinking floors and hidden items in these levels. Again, that can get bothersome -- at least for me, anyway. Furthermore, you'll find that most of these levels DON'T have a jillion monks in them. Yes, there are some levels with quite a few monks. But, again, ANYBODY can make a level hard by putting twelve thousand monks in there. (I mean, "Duh-h-h-h...") Rather, I stuck primarily to solid puzzling and creative gaming. I think that you will be challenged for many hours. You had better have quick reflexes, have high order thinking skills, and be able to creatively stretch your imagination to the max in terms of using the various tools available to Jake. In many levels, split second timing and careful movement are essential. Another special feature in these levels is a built in "HINT." Being the compassionate person I am, I realize that some people go ballistic if the level is too hard. And then they will whine and won't believe that the level is solvable. Yep, they can be conquered. Every one of them! However, if you DO need some help, simply click on the tool bar icon at the bottom of the screen that has the capital letter "A" (if you are playing from the edit screen) and it will bring up the hint screen. Click on the words and cursor along the sentence. It should be enormously helpful. I would encourage you not to "cheat" to solve these levels. What I mean by that is to simply go into the "edit" mode and see the entire level in its completed form. (Although it probably won't help a whole lot on most of the levels because on the majority of them, what you see is what you get anyway!) Try to play the levels on the "up and up" and only resort to the HINT or the "cheat mode" as a last resort. If you still can't solve the level as it stands, let me know. My e-mail address is: JLDESELM@TAYLORU.EDU or you can contact me on the Sierra Web Page. Another way to e-mail me is on AOL. My screen name is JOEL4IU. Happy solving and let me know how you like the series. If you use these levels as a basis for some of your own custom-made levels, please give credit where credit is due. And for those of you who are serious about this game, please upload some more of your own homemade levels for me to solve.
