Welcome to GOLD RUNNER Copyright (C)1994 Tom Niwinski All Rights Reserved. STARTING THE GAME ================= The first time you play Gold Runner, type "SETUP" at the DOS prompt, this will set up your sound environment, and the world you will be playing. Thereafter, to play the game, enter "GOLDRUN" at the DOS command prompt and follow the menu. PLAYING THE GAME ================ The objective of the game is to collect all of the gold and escape through the teleport. This may sound easy, but there are many obstacles in your way. First there are the treasure guardians, you don't want to get tagged by these baddies. Trap floors will send you falling to the perils below. You are armed with a power-digger, your mind, and five lives; good luck. Use the arrow keys to move around, the space bar to dig. If things get tight and you have no moves left hit 'A' to abort the current man. Hints: To dig through two levels of floor, dig two holes side by side, fall in and dig another hole. Some rooms have to have the gold picked up in a certain order, study each room carefully before you start. Once a baddie falls in a hole, he is stuck, but be careful as they regenerate and fall from the top again. Sometimes, the guardians will pick up treasure chests, watch them carefully to see where they drop them. PROBLEMS ======== 1. My sound card does not work. The sound routines are not fully compatible with all sound cards, future releases of Gold Runner should have support for GUS, and PAS-16. (As soon as the new WGT routines come out :) A couple things to try: þ Make sure your interrupt and IO address is correct. þ Try disabling the music, and just play with the sounds þ Make sure you have the correct version of SBFMDRV.COM and CT-VOICE.DRV (Unfortunately the sound routines do not use the SOUND environment setting. 2. The program says XXXX file not found. You received an incomplete version of GOLD RUNNER you can always get a complete copy from the web, or email: niwinski@sfu.ca 3. If you have any questions please send me mail niwinski@sfu.ca or snail mail (see bottom of document for address).
